Carlton Hotel
The Carlton Hotel is a small hotel, built in 1927 and is part of the Joie de Vivre chain. It has just undergone a huge refurbishment. Please note that this is an entirely non-smoking hotel. The lobby features tribal figurines, oriental rugs and mixture of old and new comfortable seating, encouraging you to stay a while and enjoy. Bring your laptop and you can take advantage of the wi-fi facility. Join the manager in the lobby each evening for a complimentary glass of wine by the fire to help you wind down after a busy day.
Each room is individually decorated with an “international vintage” design. You can expect hand painted imported Moroccan tables and oriental art mixed in with retro vanity lamps and 30’s styled easy chairs. The décor is soft with pale walls (blues and creams) and bright bedding in saffrons and reds. There’s a marble topped writing desk and wooden blinds in each room which also add to the mixture of flavours.
The Saha restaurant invites you to enjoy their Arabic-fusion menu and even the American breakfasts come with an Arabic hint to them. With red lacquer seating, red leather upholstery and even an old Chinese Scholar’s table you’ll feel warm and welcomed during your meal. |
