Queen Anne Hotel
Although situated a bit further out, this hotel is a beautiful little Victorian building with free on street parking in the surrounding area. For those on a budget this alone can save you upto $40 in valet parking charges! It is not ideal for those wishing to be in the midst of it all and there are few places to eat nearby but for someone who wishes to be in a quieter neighbourhood, in the San Francisco from the movies then this is the place for you. There is a weekday towncar service to the downtown area and of course plenty of public transport so you are not going to be stranded!
Built in 1890 and refurbished to keep the same style, the hotel is very ornate with golds, reds and blues, regency styled furniture, a huge red carpeted stairway and intricate woodwork. There is plenty of space although the hotel is quite small with only 48 rooms. Victorian traditions of afternoon teas and sherry are alive and well in this hotel and there is a complimentary continental breakfast.
The spacious bedrooms are all individually decorated in deep colours and feature Victorian antiques and large bay windows for natural light and ventilation. Bathrooms again are spacious and luxurious and you can expect to find a phone extension, toiletries and hairdryer. |
