Villa Florence Hotel
Villa Florence is part of the Kimpton chain of boutique hotels. It is styled with Italy in mind, the lobby has Tuscan columns, a Giotto-style wishing fountain and a huge 16th century Florence mural. Colours remind you of the renaissance period. The lobby is home to the hotel wine bar, where there is a complimentary wine reception every evening, giving you the chance to relax and mingle with other guests. Complimentary morning coffee is served in the lobby area for early risers.
The bedrooms are cool and relaxed with a variety of greens and creams decorating the floor and walls, and bright bed spread add the splash of colour which compliments the rich wood furniture and the plantation shutters. Recently refurbished they all have new bedding and carpets. In each room there is a flat screen TV, games console, DVD player and dual phoneline. Rooms can be small as in all boutique hotels but high ceilings provide the feeling extra space.
Dining is in the popular and contemporary Italian restaurant, Kuleto’s, specialising in locally farmed products. Décor is lavish in marble and dark wood and there is the amazing 40 foot bar in the middle where you can take your antipasti. Adjacent is the classic little sidewalk café, Caffe Kuleto which is open for breakfast and lunch, serving coffees, pastries, pizzas and paninis. You can even purchase some of their signature oils and sauces to try your hand at recreating their dishes at home! |
